WHAT TO EXPECT FOR KIDS AT SOUTH HILLS. . .

KID ZONE programs are offered at all services for newborns through 6th grade. Our programs run concurrently with the main worship services.

Our weekend services are designed with each child taught in an age-appropriate environment, and cared for in an individual way.  Our KID ZONE leaders have been trained and screened to work with your child. From loving care in the nursery to awesome music in “Kids Church,” your child will be cared for in a safe, encouraging and fun environment.

Birth - 23 Months

Wxpect a well-staffed, safe Nursery.
What To Bring…
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  1. A few disposable diapers.
  2. Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
  3. A complete change of clothes, "just in case."
  4. A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water.

Checking in. . .
Our quick & secure computerized process makes it easy to check your kids in and out of their classroom. Just go to the Check-in Station in the courtyard. You'll receive a pager and three sticker name tags with your child’s name and the pager number. Apply one sticker to your child’s back, one to the diaper bag, and give the last one to the leader receiving your child into the classroom.

The pager has an identifying number on it. If you are needed to return to your child's classroom, you will be paged. The pager will vibrate, so please hold or wear the pager at all times. You will need to present your pager in order to pick up your child. We will verify that the number on the pager matches the number on your child's name tag and then release your child to you.  A child will not be released to a parent without the assigned pager.

Age 2 – 4 years and Kindergarten

Expect a welcoming, enriching environment with leaders who will help your little ones grow in Christ.
We love to help kids explore God’s Word in fun and creative ways, through Bible stories, videos, memory verses, and worship songs.  Children in Pre-K and Kindergarten classes also make a craft which directly relates to the Bible lesson for the week.  A graham crackers and apple juice snack is also provided.

Grades 1 - 6
Expect an interactive environment with fun leaders who will help your children grow in Christ.
Kids Church is designed for kids to worship and learn about God, and have fun at the same time. They can chill before the program with rock wall, Dance-Dance Revolution, foosball, air hockey and video games.  Our Kids program includes praise & worship, crazy games, a Bible lesson on DVD, and group discussion time with a Leader for each grade level.

Group time is an integral part of the service. Leaders and students discuss the week’s lesson and pray together.  Each student takes home the weekly lesson, which lists three ways to live out what they learned.  Our lessons run in eight week series and teach biblical truths about character, values and the church.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Wild on Wednesdays W.O.W.
4-year-olds through 6th grade meet at 7pm in the Kid Zone Building for group worship and prayer, then divide into grade level classes for weekly Bible lessons.

KID’S QUEST
Kid’s Quest is a small group Bible study for kids Pre-Kindergarten through grade two.

Weekly lessons are focused on the values in Bible stories. In a small group, children have an interactive story time, make an art project, play a game, learn a memory verse, worship God through music, and share prayer requests. You can review the Bible story at home by doing a weekly lesson from the Kid's Quest folder. Homework is checked each week and children earn an award after every eight lessons.

What does a Kid's Quest small group look like?
Each group has two leaders with 10 - 20 children. Each child receives a Kid's Quest book, t-shirt and bag. Children stay with the same leader and group all year. The leader will make an effort to connect with your child on the phone from time to time. We want to know them better and encourage them to do their Kid's Quest homework  In addition to regularly attending the small group, children are expected to complete their homework with the help of a parent and memorize one Bible verse.

BREAKOUT
Breakout is small groups for children grades 3 – 6.

Breakout is designed to guide children, grades 3 - 6, toward spiritual maturity.  Specific topics are Knowing Christ, Growing in Christ, Serving Christ and Sharing Christ. Children work through one book each year in their small group, and are encouraged to develop relationships with their leaders and with other children. Each child begins in the first book, entitled "Break In" and will advance to the next book the following year.

What does a Breakout small group look like?
Each group has two leaders with 10 - 20 children.  Each child receives a Breakout book, bag and prayer journal.  Students complete a lesson from their book at home each week and then discuss it with their small group, applying biblical truth to their lives. Each group exchanges prayer requests and spends time praying for one another.  Their new understanding of Christ changes how they live.
